Foundation Hack

By Francesca Littler

My own favourite beauty hack relates to applying foundation. Have you ever had those days where you want some coverage but you don’t want to feel like you have makeup on? Maybe you are on holiday and it’s hot? This is where my beauty hack can help you.

For a lighter coverage, mix some of your foundation with some moisturiser before you apply it. This will dilute your foundation to give a lighter coverage. BUT it will also keep your skin hydrated which is an added bonus if you are somewhere hot! This is such a simple beauty hack but it means that you don’t have to buy two foundations (one lighter coverage and one heavier coverage).

Rejuvenate dry, damaged hair

By Grace Brown

Whenever my hair is looking a little worse for wear, I always use the same trick. If my hair is looking dry, or damaged I will lather it in conditioner when its dry, pop a shower cap over it, and sleep with the conditioner in overnight. I’ll then wash this off in the morning and my hair always feels 10x better! You can get special hair masks for this but in my experience, most conditioners will give you a decent result. My favourite products to use for this would have to be either the Aussie Miracle Moist conditioner, or the Tresemme Moisture Rich conditioner.

Order of makeup application

By Alexandra Quinlann

I always, always apply my eye makeup before my face makeup! This is my favourite makeup hack because if you mess up on your eye shadow or brows, you can easily wipe it away and start all over without having to take off all of your face makeup! It’s also great for fall-out that happens when applying eye shadow!

Brow makeup like a pro

By Kelli Kardell

When doing your brows you want to start in the middle of your brow and work outwards to ensure the harsher pigment on the middle to end of brow and lighter pigment at the front of the brow, when you have dark front brows it makes your face look heavy.

Bonus: for the ideal brow shape mark out your brow by marking the start of your brow straight up from the edge of your nose, the tail of your brow on a diagonal from the outside of your nose to the corner of your eye and then your arch break by marking at the spot straight through your eye from the centre of your nose.

The perfect cat eye

By Joanna Cunningham

I’ve always loved a good cat eye, as I think it really adds to any heavy eyeshadow look. Especially when you have round eyes, like me, a cat eye flick really elongates the eye. But, how can you get the perfect flick? The trick is, if you just can’t get your hand steady, is to stick some tape under your eye, following the line of your lower lash line. This way you have the perfect straight template to follow, and you can’t go far wrong!

Quick, long lasting makeup

By Nadya Valova

Before the pandemic, I was always on the go, so I couldn’t spend much time getting ready. So I had to find a way to do my make up quick and make sure it stayed on looking good all day. So I have found my beauty hack.
First I apply a generous layer of Nyx illuminator. This not only makes my makeup look glowy but it also saves me having to put any highlighter on, which means I save time.

I then move on to adding my concealer under my eyes and under my cheekbones to highlight those areas. Then I go in with my darker foundation to sharpen the areas of the face like my cheekbones and my jawline. Then to the rest of my face, I add my normal foundation. Then I start blending away. This saves me good 10/15 min every day and it looks great!

A Novel Way To Moisturise

By Shelley Whittaker

The best beauty hack I can share is to always have a tube of Lansinoh HPA Lanolin Nipple Cream handy in your bathroom and handbag. This 100% natural product is a great all-rounder when it comes to beauty. Whilst the intended purposes is indeed to help nursing mothers, it works amazingly on your lips, dry skin and even to smooth down fly away hairs. It is the only thing that helps my dry, cracked lips in the height of winter. And I also use it on my daughters’ skin when she experiences extra dry spots from mild eczema. It’s my go to product for any skin irritations and I absolutely swear by it. Plus it is drastically cheaper than the infamous product, Dr Lipp, which has exactly the same ingredients.

Prepare your skin for makeup

By Vicky Thomson

It has to be a prepped face before applying make up. Not many people realise why their make up doesn’t sit right….then I ask what their skin care routine is and the answer is “I use a baby wipe to get my make up off” or “I wash my face in the shower.” Aarrggghhh no!

It is so so so important to prep your face before applying make up and this doesn’t just mean a primer.

Here is my routine:-
I sometimes start with a mask, either applying the Arbonne RE9 prepwork Gel Eye Masks or the Arbonne Rescue and Renew detox face mask. I will then ALWAYS apply Arbonne RE9 Advanced Renewal Serum not only does this reduce the appearance of fine lines, it also sinks to the bottom layer of your skin (you have 3 layers) and it really hydrates the skin. Along with this i use an Eye Gel around my eyes. I’ve recently switched to Bio hydia by Arbonne and it works wonders for tired eyes.

After this I apply Arbonne moisturiser or day cream. You have to think of your skin as a plant… it needs watering, just like your skin needs hydrating.
The last step is Primer and the best primer I’ve used in my 31 years of life is Arbonne. The more hydrated your skin the better your make up will look.
